Canine Academy
Our Philosophy
We understand that you love your dog and you want your dog to love you. We are also acutely aware that you want to build a strong bond between you and your dog that results in trust, obedience and performance.
The Evolve Canine Academy (ECA) training process will introduce you to the skills that bring out the best in your dog and enhance your ownership experience. You will learn how to effectively motivate your dog to perform strategic behaviors and respond to your commands. You will discover techniques for shaping desired behaviors while encouraging your dog to think independently.
We will help you gain confidence in trusting your dog to behave responsibly in diverse environments. In short, we can help you become a skilled owner who enjoys the presence and performance of your dog.

Building a Protection Dog: An Example
Here is how the phases look for an owner whose long-term goal is protection sport or a personal protection dog (PPD), using French Ring terminology.
01
Phase 1 · Foundation
Foundation behaviors and progressive obedience aimed at your long-term sport or PPD goal, plus socialization and physical conditioning. In ring terms: drive building with food and toy, focused heeling (marche au pied), positions at a distance (assis, couché, debout), retrieve foundations (rapport d'objet), and jump conditioning for the hurdle (haie), long jump, and palisade.
02
Phase 2 · Prey and Possession
Possession games that teach the dog the predatory cycle: where it starts, and exactly where we want it to stop so we produce a clear-headed protection dog. Reward comes on appropriate equipment: tug, bite pillow (boudin), and leg sleeve. We build a full, calm grip, a clean release on command (cessez), and controlled entries.
03
Phase 3 · Equipment & Scenarios
Development on equipment — full bite suit (costume) and sleeve — with scenario-based exercises matched to your long-term goal: face attack (attaque frontale), flee attack (fuite), defense of handler (défense du maître), gun attack (attaque avec arme), decoy evasions (esquives), and object guarding (garde d'objet).
Not training for sport? The same three-phase structure scales down to a confident, reliable family dog.
